Caramoor Center for Performing Arts

Caramoor is a country estate in New York originally owned by Caroline Moore Hoyt, for which it is named. The estate was bequeathed to the public by owners Walter and Lucie Rosen in 1945 to be used as a venue for world class music and art exhibition. On the grounds of Caramoor sits the Rosen House, an exquisite mansion that was built sometime between 1929 and 1939. The home was built around a central courtyard and was specifically designed as a summer home and a place to store the vast quantities of art that the Rosens had collected in their travels. Today 19 rooms of the mansion are open to the public.

Stromberg was called in to reproduce custom columns for the estate. Stromberg can perfectly match any existing style or design in renovation and/or repair projects. The columns supplied by Stromberg were manufactured with Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC), which insures that the new columns will last exponentially longer than columns manufactured in the 1930s. Lighter in weight than concrete and with a tensile strength higher than steel, GFRC is an excellent choice for outdoor material. Stromberg can also fabricate GFRC to replicate many materials such as wood or terra cotta tile.
