UoU Aline Wilmot Skaggs Biology Building

The University of Utah is the educational home to more than 28,000 students, and is located in Salt Lake City. The Aline Wilmot Skaggs Biology Building was completed in 1997. It houses 15 faculty research groups as well as two auditoriums. Samuel and Aline Skaggs donated $5 million to the university toward the construction of the building, which was part of the $105 million in donations which put them at the top of the list of highest private charitable contributors in America in 1996.

Stromberg’s Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) elements are found throughout the structure of this building. The Stromberg contributions begin with the security bollards found around the building. Stromberg also manufactured columns, window sills, window heads, banding and trim. Stromberg’s GFRC panels help to create unique corners and breaks in the masonry of the building’s exterior in stairwell areas.
